WANTED: Someone with basic word processing skills; ability to work in both Windows and Macintosh platforms; ability to locate information; ability to obtain (from web or with camera) and manipulate digital images; ability to obtain and manipulate audio files; ability to produce videos; data entry skills with emphasis on accuracy; ability to manipulate data with graphic calculator, graphing software or spreadsheet; ability to adapt to and troubleshoot situation; ability to follow directions; strong attention to detail, ability to manage time effectively; punctual; no high school diploma.
Our freshman are not expected to have all of these skills when they walk in the door. Nor, do we require that the skills be taught in isolation. However, the NVHS staff does expect the students to apply these skills during the completion of the class project. That’s why Nemaha Valley High School considers every day a digital learning day.
The Kansas Department of Education has declared Feb. 1, 2012 to be a Digital Learning Day. Instead of asking a NVHS student about their digital learning on Feb. 1st, ask them what projects they’ve done using a computer, graphing calculator, iPad/iPod, digital probe or diagnostic tool this year. Help us celebrate Digital Learning Day be recognizing the students and their abilities. (Pictures by NVHS Yearbook Staff)
