2010-2011 School Year Underway

by Lindsay Peterson and Ashley Rottinghaus

August 27, 2010

It’s time to head back to school; time for people to flood the halls as soon as the bell rings, and escape the building as fast as they can once 3:05 arrives.
On the first day students were joined together to start the new year. Everyone was introduced to the new band teacher Mr. Matt Carter, the new Spanish teacher Mrs. Mary Jane Fleming, and the new Superintendent Mr. Darrel Kohlman. We also got 7 new students:  Felicity Plyler, Eben Herbst, Mary Jones, Caitlin Scott, Echo Sauer, Harley Bentley, and Samantha Ogden. We were excited to get to know our new Raiders.

The 2010-2011 school year started off with a bang! Although school didn’t start until Thursday, sports teams were already working hard on Monday.  Friday night included the yearbook signing at 7:15 p.m. and by the time 8:00 rolled around people were gathering on the dance floor to get the party started. People laughed, danced, and sang all night long. KAY’S has been encouraging people to join the club since Thursday and concluded the membership drive by having a membership party on Tuesday night. People came to enjoy hot dogs and ice cream sundaes. As the KAY membership drive ended, the SADD organization started signing up members.
Many activities happened the first couple of days, but there is still a lot more to expect during the new 2010-2011 school year at Nemaha Valley.
