SCHOOLS MAKE AYP AND ACHIEVE STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE

Based upon the Kansas Assessments taken by U.S.D. 442 students during 2008 – 2009, both schools and the district have achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).  AYP is a federal requirement of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB).  Each year a designated percentage of students must achieve a proficiency standard on reading and math assessments to make AYP.  There are other criteria including test participation, attendance and graduation rates.  Schools and districts not making AYP must take several steps toward making improvement.
