Friends of Education Announced

U.S.D. 442, Nemaha Valley Schools, has announced that Durland Auto Parts, Wayne and Richard Durland, and Wilfred “Bill” Ronnebaum have been selected as Friends of Education for the 2008-2009 school year.
Each year the staff of U.S.D. 442 nominates businesses and individuals from the community who have contributed in significant ways to the school district, students, and staff. From these nominations two to three recipients are selected each year.
Durland Auto Parts has been a very strong supporter of the Nemaha Valley High School Auto Mechanics program. This year Durland’s donated machining equipment that was appraised at over $10,000. The equipment has enabled the autos program and Bruce Stanley, instructor, to implement a machining component.
Bill Ronnebaum has been driving a school bus in the area for 39 years. He has safely transported students to and from school and to activities. Bill is highly liked and respected by all for his caring and friendly manner toward the students he drives. He has transported elementary students to the assisted living homes for reading sessions for 20 years.
Both recipients were honored at an end of the year program held at Nemaha Valley High School on May 22 before the entire school staff.
