U.S.D. 442 RECOGNIZES OUTGOING BOARD MEMBERS

U.S.D. 442, Nemaha Valley Schools, recognized outgoing board members Kim Henry and Robert G. Niehues, Jr. during an end of the school year luncheon on May 22.

Kim Henry has been a school board member for 8 years, serving as board president for the past two years. Mrs. Henry’s leadership was instrumental in the successful passage of the successful school bond election that is leading to the construction of Nemaha Valley Elementary and Middle School. She has served on various board committees. Mrs. Henry chose to not run for re-election and her position will be filled by Ilene Enneking on July 1.

Bob Niehues has served the longest tenure of any board member in U.S.D. 442 history at 20 years. Mr. Niehues has served as board president, vice president, and has represented the board in teacher negotiations. Over the past 20 years Mr. Niehues has been involved in every major decision concerning the school district, students, and staff including the school bond issue. On July 1, Kate Hayne will assume this school board position. Mr. Niehues did not run for re-election.

Both Mrs. Henry and Mr. Niehues received plaques of appreciation on their years of service on the school board from Superintendent of Schools Brian Harris.
