The Battle of the Brands
It was December 1, 2008. I was told we would have a person come
from Kansas State University. The lady talked to us about
Agriculture in the Classroom. She asked, “ Do you think you are
involved in farming?”
We replied as a group, “No! Maybe!”.
During her presentation she had a contest. Little did I know it
would be a BOYS VS GIRLS event! I was not ready for the contest,
and before I knew it our score was tied five to five. Both boys and
girls were nervous. The score was switching back and forth. It was
like it would never end. She asked, “What are some of the products
that come from cows?” We went over the usual list: butter, pudding,
cottage cheese, milk, and ice cream. We were really surprised when
she told us that there is cow in the makeup that women put on.
The contest continued. The boys thought they had won when the score
was girl’s 17 boy’s 23. WE WERE WRONG!!! Score tied AGAIN. One
question we had Mr. Hiltgen helped us answer. We finally won.
The lady packed up her belongings and we went to PE and Music
chattering about her presentation.
