Joe Creamer The Fourth of July Have you ever done something that
you wished you hadn’t. I had an unfortunate lesson on the Fourth of
July.
Every Fourth of July my brother and I blow something up. In the
past we have demolished my sister’s doll head, and old dirt bike
without one tire, and this year we were out looking for something
of interest. Then I remembered my old remote control car was
broken. After we examined it, we decided we were going to make it
explode with an artillery shell, a really big firecracker. You’re
supposed to use it with a tube that comes with one. We didn’t have
one so we blew it up by itself. It is more dangerous that way. I
lit the fuse and ran behind my mom’s car. It sounded like a cannon
going off. It broke the remote control car into one hundred pieces.
Mom watched us do this. She watched us with wide eyes.
When the explosion was over we discovered something very horrible.
The worst part was after we blew it up we figured out it just
needed new batteries. I learned a very important lesson. This is
not a safe thing to do.
I am probably not going to blow anything up this year, but then
again maybe I’ll just check harder next time.
